Incredible piece of history
Peter Jackson and crew did an incredible job of restoring this 100 year old footage, cleaning up the image and improving resolution, converting it all to 24fps, adding voices to the soldiers with realistic sounding explosions. Awesome Reproduction of the past!
Extremely Powerful Film, & without question the best computer enhanced cleanup of old film coupled with what would be realistic sound available today. They certainly got rid of the Charlie Chaplain style of movement, & gave this old film some modern character. The voice overs match peoples lips perfectly on the color film. I have a 7.1 stereo surround sound in my living room that rattles things when bombs, & shells go off. Beautifully done how they transition from old black & white footage into color about 25 minutes into the film. watched it 4 times already! This is an incredible piece of cinema. I usually do not like colorized films, but this one is so well done that it really does bring the people to life. WWI is so overshadowed and almost lost in history and yet these people paid such a high price. This film really should be shown as part of a history of the modern world. Stunning
This is amazing and even more than I expected. These are real videos from 1914-1918 that were completely restored in high def and in color with the original sound brought back to life. Some of the videos may look a little funny but that's because this is over 100 year old footage brought back to life with color that was never there before, but they did a marvelous job regardless. This will make your stomach turn a little at the gore and the eerie stares of the men in battle, the atmosphere is gripping and will have you on the edge of your seat.
