The band concocts a fine blend of musical ingredients, from the complex and brooding tones of Bedhead and Red House Painters to the smart and soulful tunes of Spoon, Centro-matic, and Death Cab For Cutie. The result is a deliberate collection of songs, some of which build and break with devastating intensity, others that subtly repeat a theme until the listener has no choice but to swallow them.
