Great way to sharpen cain saw chains. I have tried a file of the correct size, a file in a carrier, a carbide sharpener, an electric Oregon sharpener. This sharpener holds a round file and a flat file. It sharpens the chain cutting link and the depth gauge at the same time. A file doesn't overheat the cutting tooth like an electric sharpener may. The chain comes out almost new sharp. There is another mfg that makes an identical unit. The other company was the likely inventor of this device and licenses it to Stihl.

It's made by Stihl! Very easy to use.... Plenty of online videos to demonstrate the use of this product. The instruction sheet wasn't all that helpful, but the tool works brilliantly as advertised. Durable, should last a long time, keeps the chain sharp as the day purchased.

It is well made, and a great design that files down the depth gauge as you file the saw tooth. It was a bit pricey, but worth every penny. It beats out electric sharpener in its simplicity of set-up and use. I sharpened a chain as soon as I gut it and it took only two strokes per tooth to get it somewhat sharp and four or five strokes to hone it to a nice sharp edge.

I've been hand sharpening chainsaws for decades, and this tool takes it to a new level. It is super easy to use, and sharpens the chain precisely every time. I tested it on an older chain, and it now cuts like a new one. Just make sure you get the proper size for your chain!
