    Good for an emergency.

    The Mainstay Food Ration bars are edible compared to other brands. They have kind of a shortbread taste with a slight hint of lemon aftertaste. They are buttery with a crunch or grit. My kids would eat them if they had to. One 3600 calorie bar is divided into 9 pieces that pull apart easily. They are supposed to hold up well, even if kept in your car for emergencies (up to 5 years). My main emergency food will still be freeze dried foods, but these bars don't require water & are completely ready to eat as is. Bug out bag recommended. Downside- they have ingredients we try to avoid like soy products & corn syrup, but that won't be the first thing on our minds if the SHTF. And it could get expensive for our family of 6 (6 of the 3600 cal bars = $72 +) & that wouldn't last long.

    Mainstay 3600 Emergency food rations

    This is a good quality survival food, lots of useful calories, won’t make you thirsty, tastes like mild lemon and lasts for five years, unopened, in about any conditions. The others are alright as well, most taste like apples and cinnamon but I prefer the Mainstay. A good idea to keep something like this stored for anything that might happen,because you never know.
