The Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 (BX80557E4500SLA95) is a computer processor that is designed for a desktop PC. This Intel Dual-Core Processor offers energy efficiency, and has a cooling fan, which allows it to run more efficiently without overheating. With an internal thermal monitor, the Intel Dual-Core Processor can monitor itself to ensure that the fans come on to prevent it from getting too hot. The 2.2 GHz Processor is fast enough to accommodate several applications at a time on the computer, and also has the ability to overclock at 3.0 GHz. The 2.2 GHz Processor also has a front side bus speed of 800 MHz and a memory cache size of 2 GB. The Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 is small and can fit in almost all desktop PCs. A Cheap but very usable chip
1st its cheap, if bought used - recommended, as new prices are not good, and better hardware is available for the price. The chip itself will enable you to play BluRay so long as you have the appropriate chipset on your motherboard. It will also handle many modern games, but not all. Buy this processor if you want a good performance processor at a low price, but do not require a very powerful processor. I purchased this item to build my Niece a PC for Sims 3, as her old machine couldn't handle it. It handles the intended task just fine, even though she has integrated graphics and a 1440 x 900 display. If starting your build from scratch I suggest you go to AMD.1st its cheap, if bought used - recommended, as new prices are not good, and better hardware is available for the price. Excellent upgrade for ageing system.
I chose the E4500 as it was one of the highest processors that my ageing socket 775 board would support. I was not dissapointed. As I had fitted it with its maximum memory of 2GB and was pleased with the performance boost from that, the only other thing I could do was to boost it from its P4 3GHz that had served faithfully for years with something with a bit more punch for Graphics work. XP startup times were noticibly reduced, and it takes less time for Photoshop to do its work. Overall, money well spent, and as the prices of E6600s were double what I paid for this, it was an excellent buy.I chose the E4500 as it was one of the highest processors that my ageing socket 775 board would support. good value, easy to overclock for extra performance.
Good budget processors, far exceeding the ability of the awful celeron dual core lga775 processors. based on the same conroe core as the 6xxx series cpu's. both e4500's i've owned + an e4400 have all been capable of exceeding 3ghz speed & 1200 fsb using air cooling. great for a budget pc for the old folks or for some overclocking fun & gaming.

Is a great budget processor. I feel the processors running under 2Ghz aren't quite good enough for alot of tasks, but the 2.2Ghz CPU (E4500) is a good cpu to go for, and it overclocks well - i've got mine from 2.2ghz to 2.6ghz running very cool and stable. It is built on the older technology of 65nm, and not 45nm which is a shame, but in fairness i can't really tell much of a difference. I've had 2 of these E4500's now, and havn't a bad thing to say about them. Much better than the AMD equivelent, the athlon X2 anyway. I've used both, and core2duo all the way.Is a great budget processor.
