Great Nostalgic TV with excellent bonus features

I have to admit to buying this because it recently started airing again on Freeview TV here in the UK, and I wanted to enjoy the various episodes without adverts. Battlestar Galactica (1978) is often cited as Universal's response to Star Wars, but is actually a very good show on its own grounds. All the episodes here are of excellent picture and sound quality. The three - part opener, "Saga of a Star World", is particularly worth watching as it varies considerably from the original theatrical film cut shown in Cinemas, including lots of footage I hadn't seen before. The episodes thereafter continue the search for Earth, and some stand out more than others, like "Lost Planet of the Gods" and "War of the Gods". The Bonus disc includes a lot of previously unseen features too, which I thought ...

  • Battlestar Galactica Saga of a Star World 1978

My Blu Ray Player is Region Free. So I can play it. There is differences between the American box set and the UK American Box Set there's the music by Stu Phillips Documentary not in UK Box Set. You can watch it with subtitles for the hard of hearing not in UK Box Set. Box Set of Battlestar Galactica Saga of a Star World. But both versions are fantastic. But I wish there was the Episode Title Saga of a Star World on at the start of the credits and the Trailers between Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

  • Battlestar Galactica, one of the best sci-fi TV series ever broadcasted

I watched Battlestar Galactica in the 70s when it was first broadcasted and I found it fantastic. I rented it recently and I decided that HAD to buy it. What makes Battlestar Galactica so special is not just the plot, it is mainly the personality of the characters. Think about the charismatic, refined and dignified Commander Adama, invaluable military commander and spiritual leader, or the great warrior and hero Capitan Apollo, sincere and generous handsome man, with a fascinating, candid, sort of boy-ish attitude, whose fine intelligence coupled with a strategic mind, proved to be an essential and crucial complement to Adama’s leadership. If Adama is the military and spiritual leader of what is left of the “Twelve Colonies of Man”, Apollo is its “heart and soul”. His friend ...

  • A blast from the past.

I still really enjoyed it even though some of the story lines are terrible. One is a western styled episode with a fast shooting Cylon and another episode has characters that could have been taken directly from The Wizard of Oz. This programme could have been fantastic with great characters like Starbuck and Apollo, Boomer, Adama and Tie and some stunning actresses too ;) it's theme tune in my opinion is one of the best and the opening credits look visually great with the Cylon ships turn and burn. As for ships I thing Battle Star had some of the best designed ships that could beat most other sci-fi series. In my opinion I think the original Battle Star Galactica series could have been one of the best! Unfortunately i thing it was let down with poor scripts :( it's still well worth a ...

  • Food for thought

Saw the series when it first came out. You could say it is an insight to the future of man. Travelling across the universe looking for a new home using technology advanced ,also battling with the cylons for survival and food . The visual effects were good for their time. The series had some famous guest stars so quality of acting maintained. Could mankind be neading a new planet to colonise ,is this nearer fact than fiction ,food for thought. If you like this then you'll love the latest version.
