I have been restoring motorcycles since 1961 and now use this stuff; silicone oil 6000 grade. Why? It doesn't dry out when compared with mineral oils. Make a gasket and simply wipe a small quantity of this oil on the gasket and it will remain leak proof (we hope). Use for motorcycle cabling and anywhere that a heavier 'oil' is required. Also, use very sparingly when restoring firearms. Do not over-lubricate; can be dangerous!! Can be used for many plumbing joints/seals as well. Love it!!
