If you want atmospheric b&w shots of LNER Pacifics - Get This!
I confess I had not heard of Colin Walker until just a few months ago but I now have quite a few of his books. This book is essentially an album with several black & white photographs of various locos both at work and at rest, more than a few of which are quite evocative! The captions can be quite short but always convey sufficient information. If this book has one weakness it is that the author has an obvious preference for the larger tender locomotives and smaller classes are perhaps ignored but I for one will not hold this against him! If like me, you have an affinity for the LNER Pacifics (and the odd V2), then this book would be an excellent addition to your bookshelf. The photos are eminently atmospheric!
