40 Channel scan option Awesome Feature !
This is a basic 40 channel cb radio but it has one feature you will love that I have not found on a Galaxy. It has a scan feature that if you turn the squelch up just above where you can hear it then press the scan button and the radio will go thru all forty channels until someone keys up on a channel and it will stop there. If the transmission is finished it has a delay and if no one comes back on it starts scanning again. If you key up to respond it will stay on that channel but all you have to do is hit the scan button again and it will start scanning. I have an older Hygain 422 Receiver Pre-amp that I bought on e-bay that has the option where you can run two cb radios off the same antenna at one time. This option is set-up where I can have one radio monitor one channel and I can talk on the other radio on another channel on the same antenna. I use the Cobra 18 II on the monitor side of the preamp and run the scan option all the time as a base station. The preamp also boosts the pickup signal up to 20 db so I can scan all forty channels and hear those long distance transmissions as well. I can hear as far as Puerto Rico from me in Arkansas pretty much all of the time. I run my Galaxies on the talk side. This was a great buy, and I am considering getting another one to use as a mobile unit just for the scan option when I am traveling. Put a upper and lower kit in this and be able to scan all of it. Great little radio
