Not sure about this. it is supposed to be a German Blu Ray Import yet it is exactly the same as the DVD that was given away in the british Newpapers right down to the 2nd half of the movie starting with poor quality imagery. So basically it is really no different to the dvd, There has been no Blu ray conversion here at all. All that has been done is a transfer from one format disc to another. I was disappointed as I purchased this to get a better copy than the 2nd half of the DVD disc.

A masterclass in acting, and content.
This film was made for TV and was originally shown in 2 x 1 hour and 30 minute episodes. The story is based on the actual events, and many official home office documents were obtained from Scotland yard to as far as is possible, tell a story that is in fact real. The camerawork is amazing, as is the acting. It was an inspired choice to get Sir Michael Caine to play the lead. Every character is played to perfection and all of the actors are well suited to their respective parts.This film was made for TV and was originally shown in 2 x 1 hour and 30 minute episodes. Really good long TV film giving an authentic feel of 1888 London during Jack the Ripper's Autumn of Terror. The film gives an almost documentary look at the victims and the recreated locations and builds to a thrilling climax as the Ripper is 'revealed'. Its only major flaw is avoiding to show any of the horror from the slaughter of Mary Kelly. Maybe the producers thought that would be too much for a TV movie. Bad decision, to omit everything from the Rippers 'official' last victim. The problem with this Blu Ray presentation is that the original 4:3 image has been cropped to 16:9 resulting in an annoying loss of about 25% of the pictures height. This is a irritating trend affecting many movies since 16:9 TVs came on the scene. I feel movies should be presented as they were meant to be ...
