About this product

Product Information

Known for his bold and aggressive leadership, Kurt Panzer Meyer was one of the most highly decorated German soldiers of World War II. Successively commanding a motorcycle company, a reconnaissance battalion, a grenadier regiment, and the Hitler Youth Panzer Division, Meyer saw intense combat across Europe: the invasion of Poland, the fall of France in 1940, the sweep through the Balkans and Greece, the bitter fighting on the Eastern Front, and the 1944 campaign for Normandy, where he fell into Allied hands and was charged with war crimes. His firsthand account, written with unmatched vividness and immediacy, conveys the grim reality of war as well as the bravery of the young men he commanded.

The book arrived well packed get & I pristine condition at a good price. I would have liked it by 1st class post & I contacted this Seller via EBAY 'CONTACT' but got NO RESPONSE via either my email account or on ebay and certainly not in my Spam folder...SO what can you say I was inconvenienced a bit but got a positive outcome? I think they're reliable for transactions but something is remiss with electronic communication via EBAY or perhaps not tech savvy or disinterested or unwell etc..

As usual with this seller, the book was exactly as described and very well packed. However, delivery times can vary significantly. This was one of 4 books ordered at the same time. Two arrived in about a week, but this one took almost 3 weeks. A reliable seller who answers questions promptly, but could improve on dispatch times.

If you're happy to buy it now, receive it sometime in the future, this is the seller for you. Strangely nebulous and self destructive despatch times for a modern business, but, I've got my book, it was reasonably priced, packed okay and as described so a perfectly decent transaction. Happy enough customer, all fine.

  • A stunning classic of the Second World War experience from the German viewpoint.

This is an amazing account written by a famous German Panzer Division Commander. It is written with a no holds barred style and it gives a clear insight into those grim times. His day by day account of the fighting in the Norman Bocage is unsurpassed and is a must for any military historian with an interest in 1944. A classic account of WW2 from the German perspective.
