Intended to capture the attention of the MySpace and YouTube generation, EA Tiburon has upgraded the character customization and online play in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08. Utilizing the GamerNet online community, players can view, create, and play user-created content. Both offline and online gamers can use the "Game Face" system to develop a character for use on the green. By uploading photos, players can create an avatar that looks exactly like them or alter their appearance with different hairstyles, clothing, facial features, and accessories. <br><br>As single-gamers work through 15 courses including Boston, Westchester, and Cog Hill, they might make a difficult shot that is worthy of copying. Players can save the shot, and upload it onto GamerNet for others to view. After a point value is assigned to the shot, other gamers can attempt to beat the high score and earn points of their own. Additionally, there are themed channels that players can visit including "Grip It and Rip It," "Single Hole Challenge," "18 Hole Showdown," and "Nine Hole Challenge."

    An old game - but the best to date

    I would have been happier if EA had continued this series for the PC platform rather than switching exclusively to consoles. The game is now old enough, it won't run on Windows 10. It has some flaws (e.g. the PGA Tour mode has both a very high standard of performance for advancing, and a very slow rate of performance improvement). Still, the graphics, sound, and physics are compelling enough to provide an immersive experience. The other golfers have distinct skills and personalities, and it isn't long until you feel you're golfing with friends. The experience accumulation and confidence gauge (the longer and better you play, the better the outcome for a given actual player performance) which were introduced in this game even gives it a little RPG feel.     Good, but not the best, golf game.

    Good golf game, although not the best I have ever played on the PC. You may have to fiddle with it a bit to get it to cooperate with Windows 10. It has a few bugs and missing features (inability to save a favorite shot manually) that prevents it from being the best.

    Tru-swing is the best

    Had this game before I moved and lost it. TW is still the best golf sim. Tru-swing (mouse) has the most realistic feel and touch for each shot. I also created pretty realistic "game face" golfers to sim myself, friends and grandkids. Lots of fun and challenging.

    Challenging and fun

    We purchased this version because we loved Tiger Woods 2003. My son and I competed through the whole game trying to be the first to beat Tiger and all the steps in between. The 2008 version has improved course graphics and is fun to try and finish the Tiger Challenges with a gold medal in each one before we move on. The different levels of play, hacker, amateur, etc are each quite different in skill required to excel. This makes the game much more realistic than I first thought in the hacker mode..I though I was something, but proved to be nothing much when that level increased. Practice makes perfect. I like the players animations and gestures, but they do get old and tiresome when playing in a tourney. The esc key cuts down on the animation time and definately speeds up the play. A ...
