Revived my old gol waterproof
Bought this to extend the life of a waterproof short sleeve golf jacket. It has had quite a few soakings in the ten or so years that I've owned it so its waterproof properties were well in decline. I bought Nickwax after researching different products, it didn't let me down, just followed the washing instructions on the bottles and my jacket is as good as it's ever been. I would have had to pay upwards of £70 to replace it, I I've saved substantially as a result of using thisBought this to extend the life of a waterproof short sleeve golf jacket. You use Nikwax Tech WASH First.Then Nikwax TX Direct to waterproof in a woolen wash 30 degrees use 2 full capfulls of Nikwax in wash as it says in the washing instructions. Finish TX DIRECT WASH leave to DRY .and it does not waterproof your £110.00 NoRTH FACE SHELL GORE TEX JACKET. It is as usefull as a Marks and Spencer Brown Paper Shopping Bag in the Rain. Best thing to do is dont buy a Gore Tex Jacket For £110.00. Save yourself some money buy a Portwest Sealtex Pvc S450 Jacket For £43.00 and you dont need to Waterproof the Jacket and it will last 10 YEARS so that is my of the day for you. It does the job and does what it says on the tin and definately breathes new life into waterproof clothing.
Apart from driving various types of large vehicles, including the obvious cars and vans, I also ride motorcycles. Being an avid motorcyclist who enjoys being out in all weathers on my bikes, I also do a fair amount of walking, usually with our German Shepherd dog. The terrain and weather often varies and not only covers the usual fields / parks, but woods, hills and beach. Out on the bikes, riding at whatever the limit maybe when it rains one tends to get the full force of mother nature, unlike folks tucked safely in their cars. Just as with any other waterproof clothing or those that are sold as water repellent, motorcycle clothing also needs cleaning and re-treating from time to time in order to maintain its efficiency in dealing with the weather. I was a great feeling and gave peace of mind, knowing I was not only dry inside the clothing, but the outer was only marginally damp. Something that didn't happen last time when I made a similar trip as I was soaked prior to reaching my destination. To conclude, I was that impressed, I searched for the best deals online and purchased a couple more packs, including the products that Nik Wax manufacture for both leather and footwear. Wash without destroying Water proofing
Bought this as a good quality Ski coat had been spoiled by grease off of a chair lift. I didn't want to spoil the waterproofing on it as regular detergent has done to other coats in the past. Followed instructions and applied some neat to affected areas and then washed as directed. It did a good job but not perfect in getting the grease out. This was a very challenging stain for any detergent at low temperature and I feel it performed very well with out damaging the waterproof/breath-ability of the coat. This is just a review of the Tech Wash as I haven't used the TX yet.Bought this as a good quality Ski coat had been spoiled by grease off of a chair lift. Easy to Use; Does the Job!
I have used Nikwax tech wash and TX. Direct to launder and re-proof several of my outdoor jackets and hiking trousers. The product is easy to use - just follow the instructions as directed and use it in your washing machine. Follow the main wash with TX Direct to re-proof the garments. Once this cycle is through, you can see the water droplets running off the garments. I let mine dry naturally and they're ready to wear again. An easy and efficient way of laundering and re-proofing expensive outdoor wear, I would definitely recommend this product. I have used Nikwax tech wash and TX.
