The first is always the best.
Rage takes the elements of rpg, fps, and combat driving, adds a compelling story and drops it in a post apocalyptic world. The controls are smooth, the combat is top notch, the driving insane (in a good way). I'll not go into the story. But if you like sci fi, post apocalyptic wasteland storylines with crazy mad max type bandits, mutants and heavily cybered end game villians, I believe you will like this game. In my opinion Rage is a much better experience than Fallout 4. Now Rage 2 is a different experience. Most of you will have seen a few videos on the internet about Rage. Looked great huh? Well, those don't even do it justice. I have got to say, the graphics in Rage are bar-none the best to date. There is a slight blur to certain upclose objects, such as small signs and beer bottle labels. But the world around you is so crisp, detailed and very clear. The basic premise of Rage's story is that Earth was on the verge of destruction due to an incoming asteroid. The opening cut-scene shows the country sized rock clipping the moon before its impact. The solution is clear, build huge pods and bury them deep in the Earths crust until the dust settles...literally. But something went wrong in cryo-sleep and everyone else died but you, 150+ years later, forcing you to go topside alone. A ... Most of you will have seen a few videos on the internet about Rage. The gameplay is every bit as fantastic as the graphics. With the exception of a button or two, the control layout is familiar enough compared to most mainstream FPS's. The weapons are solid and easy to use. Although there wasn't a huge variety of firearms that you'd expect, such as assault rifles, pistols and shotguns (pretty much one of each, unless you bought the Anarchy Edition for the extra sawed-off shotgun...seriously). The enemy A.I. is probably the best I have ever seen. They hide, duck and react like you'd expect from a competitive online versus game (sadly, there is no such mode in Rage, more on that later). Shoot a bandit in the arm and he'll stagger in his approach while cupping his fresh wound. Hurt him badly enough and he'll crawl on the floor seeking cover while taking his last few pot shots in your direction. Kill enough of a group and the remaining bad guys will call for a retreat. Its serious fun! The mission locations are simply stunning. Every new area you come across will have you looing up and around like a Japanese tourist in New York City. And to get around to these places, you'll take one of the half a dozen rides that you can later customize. Nothing too innovative or impressive, but it works. To go along with the sights are the sounds. Everything is what you'd expect, wind blowing, distant yells and howls. The guns sound just as they should. Oddly enough there wasn't much of a musical score or soundtrack. The only time I noticed any music was that typical "bad guys in the area" music. You know, kill the last guy and the music stops letting you know its okay to proceed. With all that good, the 5 stars I gave it, this game has to be perfect right? No. There are a few serious issue that will leave a bad taste in players collective mouths. First off, There is no online FPS multiplayer. Thats right, developer I.d. decided for what ever reason to leave that out. Afterall, they coined the phrase "Deathmatch". What we're stuck with is some shoddy combat racer derived from the single player game. I tried to play it with a straight face but gave up after 10 minutes. Its just not very fun. Then there is the exploration, or rather "lack of". Sure you can go just about anywhere you want, but there isnt really anything out there to find. Quite literally there is but one easter egg in the game. The "developers Graffiti" room. Whoopie. So if you're looking for Fallout 3 type of exploration and looting, you can forget it. Finally, with the lack of side quests and mini-games, Rage should net around 15 hours taking your time. Make no mistake, Rage still rocks.

Bought this product hoping that the creators of Doom and Quake would come together with the creators of the new Fall Out 3 and the Elder scrolls series and make an amazing game. Loved everything about it. Great game play, great graphics, great story, and characters... You know all the things you would want in a game.. what i did not like about the game was how it just ended.. They get you hooked in the game and then it just ends! WTF!!!! playing on nightmare mode now to see if i can get some more out of it. ID did a good job on this game as well as Bethesda, thats right, all the controversy over Bethesda and ID ended up working together and made a good first person shooter and very linear game. If your looking for something like the Fallout series, this probably the closest alternative for the price(nothing is truly like Bethesda's Fallout or Elder Scrolls series). Realistic swaying side to side walking and realistic shooting makes this game. Reminds me of Deadspace at times and like Borderlands at other times.
