About this product

Product Information

An Xbox exclusive, Tao Feng is a 3D fighting game helmed by John Tobias, best known for co-creating Mortal Kombat. Tao Feng features 12 male and female fighters, equally divided into two opposing sects, who fight within interconnected, interactive stages set in a fictional country named New China. Battles take place on a rooftop, in an arcade, dojo, alleyway, and more as players punch, kick, and throw their opponents into scenery objects. The lack of a traditional timer and round system means fights can last minutes or hours depending on the player's skill.

Three special attacks can be performed using a character's Chi, represented by a horizontal meter, which will destroy objects in addition to damaging the opponent. Chi can also be used to heal damaged limbs that, if left unchecked, will result in limited mobility and diminished attack power. As the fight progresses, details such as broken bones, torn clothes, and blood trickling from wounds can be witnessed as players use their environments to perform a variety of acrobatic attacks. Players can swing around poles, flip off walls, kick players into pinball machines, and more.

Six modes of play include Versus, Quest, Survival, Team Battle, Tournament, and Training. Versus is a single fight against the computer or a friend in a choice of environments. Quest involves selecting a character and fighting a series of rivals, one after another, until he or she emerges victorious. Survival is a test of endurance as players try to keep fighting as long as possible, while Team Battle has both sides selecting two to six characters before attempting to eliminate all opposing team members. Tournament supports four to eight characters in random pairings, and Training gives players the opportunity to learn each character's moves.

Item was EXACTLY as pictured. Fast shipping. Smooth transaction. Only gripe is shipping cost because it was media mail eligible, but 2 bucks for faster ship is a good value. I'm picky lol

    Interesting

For a game from the early life of the Xbox it is good and it has nice features such as limb damage on characters as well as destructible environments, body damage, and a plethora of moves. The controls are not as tight as they could be but part of this is simply how unsuitable the Xbox controller was for fighting games. Also, the difficulty for the game, coupled with the controller challenges, makes the game pretty tough so start at Easy early on. With all of that said it is a good piece for a collection since this was one of the many exclusives that defined the early life of Microsoft's first console and it is better than Kakuto Chojin.

    Just Got It Because

Not a great, nor even good, fighting game. Got it because I once played a demo of it and I was curious. Game came in good condition.

  • Surprisingly Addictive

I bought this game because I recognized it from playing the demo on the "Official Xbox Magazine" from a few months ago. I was looking for a bargain price on a familiar title, and this is the one I chose. It's actually a pretty decent fighting game with the usual "power up" attacks, but also including "limb damage" which means that a limb has been damaged enough to make a character limp or whatever and only do half damage with the affected limb. THere's a decent tutorial in there too.. no "hidden moves" that I'm aware of, though some of the patterns you have to go through to trigger specific attacks may seem daunting at times.. especially when you discover that the distance to your opponent sometimes changes the effect of pushing specifc buttons.. (ie- a combo might not work if it ...

  • Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus, Review.

The reason why i bought this game was because i played the demo to alot and i just didnt want to leave the rest of the game to imagination. Things that i like about the game are the graphics its looks very good, the controls respond well, i like the variety of characters the game provides, the fighting arenas are also very detailed and it works. What i dislike about the game is that although the controls respond its not so easy to do combos or even some basic attacks for beginners aleast, so i cannot recommend the game for just anyone. the reason i decided to buy this game is because is because i like it alot, i like fighting games most out of any genre of games, i could buy it for cheap on ebay which is alot cheaper than any where else i had checked before buying the game. overall this ...
