      all in the series

Brilliant - and so much better than the T.V. series ... but as I read I do see Demelsa and Ross etc as they are on T.V. The books give the characters thoughts which adds so much to the story. They are educational in respect that it tells of the French revolution, how awful and dangerous mining was in those days and the general hardship on poorer families. Paying for the services of doctors and the how their treatments were very basic and guesswork a lot of the time. Also how Parliamentary voting evolved and the underlying corruption etc. Really well written - takes you from hardship and serious items to the softer side of family life and stormy relationships ... so there is constantly dark and shade. So GOOD for bringing visitors to Cornwall too. Leaflets are available here as to where the ...

Poldark novels - Last six in the series

The first seven books were very compelling reading and kept up the pace. Great dialog. As of Book 8, however, the story begins to drag. Got through Book 8 and im into 9, so will have to see. The new relationships are totally lacking in the intesnity of those in the first books. Ross and Demelza's kids are, well, kind of boring and colorless at this point. Graham seems unable to decide exactly who is his main character: Ross and Demelza are often in the background, not much plot action there at all. The children on the other hand are too two-dimensional. will continue to read though, now that I have all 12!

    • Intriguing title ... what comes next?

Winston Graham writes brilliant books. I have only read 4 books from the series of 12 but the story is lovely and WG brings out the best and the worst of his characters. I loved the portrayal of this family when it was made into the television series, which js what made me want to read the books as well. Fabulous.

    • Poldark books

I cannot put these books down, even sat down afternoons and read a few chapters. I’ve read one book after another and now on book 8 , can’t read fast enough but also don’t want the Poldark saga to end! Brilliant books.
