Notes
In their second outing, this quartet of talented Vermont musicians offers up a dozen tracks of first-rate modern jazz: nine originals and three classics of the genre. As on their first album ("But That Ain't This"), Dan Skea's compositions are melodic and easily accessible, providing fertile ground for deft group interplay and intriguing solo explorations. Chris Peterman's soprano and tenor saxes sing the lines with inspired fluency, while bassist John Rivers and drummer Geza Carr contribute relentlessly solid support. Recorded, mixed and mastered at the legendary Charles Eller Studios in Charlotte, Vermont by master engineer Lane Gibson (affectionately known to local musicians as "The Sonic Bartender"), this album encompasses a wide variety of rhythms, tempos and moods. From the jaunty title track to the haunting and evocative "Home From The Hill," each song establishes it's own unique musical atmosphere. "I'm honored to have had the pleasure of working with true artists like Chris, John and Geza," says Dan. "This CD is the Quartet's second produced in collaboration with Chuck and Lane, but we all sincerely hope, not the last."
