About this product

Product Information

Ubisoft's popular video-game series of the same name gets adapted for the big screen in this sweeping fantasy adventure starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton. The setting is sixth century Persia. A nefarious nobleman covets the Sands of Time, a legendary gift from the gods that allows its possessor to turn back time. Whoever owns the Sands of Time has the power to rule the world, and this villainous lord would use that power to enslave all of humanity. The only person capable of defeating this tyrant and saving the world is Dastan (Gyllenhaal û DONNIE DARKO), a youthful prince. Now, with plucky princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton û QUANTUM OF SOLACE) by his side, Dastan will attempt to prevent the Sands of Time from falling into the wrong hands. Mike Newell (HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE) directs a script penned by Carlo Bernard, Doug Miro, Jordan Mechner, and Boaz Yakin.

Reviews
Time - The movie boasts a supercool scaling of the Persian ramparts, some fancy CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON-esque stunts and lots of deadly creatures., Rolling Stone - The retro appeal of the movie is undeniable, recalling THE ARABIAN NIGHTS splendor of 1940's THE THIEF OF BAGDAD., Total Film - [A] Middle Eastern adventure with a dashing hero, a plucky heroine and a supporting cast of familiar faces led by the ever reliable Ben Kingsley., The Hollywood Reporter - A trio of film editors, Michael Kahn, Martin Walsh and Mick Audsley, deserve full marks for the exciting pace of the picture, and they make the most of John Seale's cinematography, which is inventively framed and beautiful to see.

  • Excellent Comedy Action

Good fun action film. Comedic acting skills and a simple enough script. Good twists and turns and the ostrich racing is the best. Tax avoidance, persian baiting, assassins and more.

  • Prince of Persia

Not a bad family adventure. Some good action scenes and the story moves along nicely. Not as good as Indy or the 1st Mummy film, but better than PotC.

  • Prince of persia

Decent story. Good CGI and special effects. A little bit 'wordy' at times, but overall an enjoyable film able to be watched by all the family.
