Good value and compact
I have a Samsung phone from work and I don't like what Samsung (and some other manufacturers) do to Android. I also don't like the garish, over-saturated displays on some high-end phones. Having previously had a Nexus 5 and a Nokia 6, I knew that I wanted "vanilla" Android. Some cheaper Android phones are missing features - the very cheapest don't have GPS sensors, some don't have NFC, and even the Moto G doesn't have a compass, so you can't see which way you're facing on the map and AR doesn't work. I found the Nokia 6 a bit big for pockets, so the Pixel 4a is the right size, has all of the key features, is much more responsive than the Nokia, and has a battery that lasts me at least two days. It seems to hit a sweet-spot of size, features and price (especially for the £293 that I ... Great phone for the price
This is a great phone for the price. I was impressed with how good the set-up was, especially the copying of apps and data from my existing iPhone 6. Easy to grasp how to navigate on the new phone, and it felt like I was in control within the day of opening the box (no doubt assisted by the fact I could just slot my existing nano sim card into the Google phone). Things I don't like ? 1. Navigation to the app tray is not really a single swipe once you've got various tabs open but I got round that by dragging my favourite apps into the home page and switched off the (to me) slightly annoying feature that suggests favourite apps by sticking them on the bar on the home page and the app tray/page. 2. The sound is ok but not brilliant quality But for a phone that takes good pictures, has ... This is a great phone for the price. Mid range phone, perfect for me.
As a senior citizen I don't need a massive flagship product as I'm not going to be gaming or taking selfies for my social media accounts. A phone that takes good pics, has decent battery life and lets me shop and do my banking is just right for me.
