Received the incorrect kind of film. It had the perforations of typical double perf 16mm, when single perf double 8mm was advertised.

We can only second guess perhaps you are looking for super 8 film? This is not super 8 film, this is standard 8 format film. Standard 8 film comes as 16mm width double run, split after processing. We suspect you do not know this? We tried to help you. We can only recommend some background reading on the subject.
