How Rich Can Ya Get? That's RICH!
There are older Richie Rich cartoons I have seen, as bumpers between Baby Huey cartoons before going to commercial, but when I purchased the Harveytoon collection, these bumpers weren't on there. In these bumpers, Richie is in his original outfit and he never speaks, just makes the money joke. Fast forward to these endeavors. Richie is aged, no longer in the white boots and blue shorts. In all truths, he was rather annoying here (but then he could be just as annoying in the comic books as well, standing alongside policemen and detectives). The funny bit about these Richie Rich cartoons is the voice artist really should have been exceptionally credited, as he does so much talking (by comparison, Nancy Cartwright is credited as Gloria, since she has since gone on to greater recognition as ... Dollar played up as comedy relief, Irona is just a bit too robotic sometimes, Cadbury is too Brit. Mom and Dad are too stuffy as well (especially him). I guess I always envisioned Reggie Van Dough as having a voice similar to old Reggie Mantle from the Archie cartoons. Perhaps Professor Keenbean is tossed out there a bit too much. In the end, the cartoons are so short, they don't get the chance to be overly annoying. I thought the Shocking Lady episode was worth a chuckle for its setup, with Richie questioning other ladies who were his mother's guests and we get a closeup of the actual villianess. Kind of a Maudie Fickett inspiration here. The Scooby cartoons are an oddity as well. This was when Mark Evanier decided the Scooby Doo formula needed revamping, so what does he do? Brings in Scrappy Doo and gets rid of Fred, Velma and Daphne. In the opening title credits, we see silhouettes of the trio in the background. Running away, actually. Rather befitting. These Scooby-Shaggy-Scrappy episodes are really nothing more than reworkings of old Hokey Wolf stories, meeting actual witches and monsters. Really what is most annoying is the endless delusion of Scrappy Doo insisting when Scooby runs scared that Scooby is actually tricking the bad guy or falling off the cliff to have fun. Wheee! This gets irritating. As another review says, the opening and closing credits gets tiresome (something which especially happens in the Harveytoons collection, with three or four episodes sandwiched between those credits).

The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show Vol. 1 w/ Scrappy
The return of Scooby-Doo along with his best friend Norville "Shaggy" Rogers and nephew Scrappy is fantastic. When first seen on TV many years ago it seemed to be an unlikely partnership with that Richie Rich Kid. However, even now there are life lessons that we all can learn from Richie Rich. So what if his allowance is only one hundred thousand a week, he spends the majority of it on good causes and friends. Personally, if Scrappy Doo were to have been run over by the locomotive from the Scooby Doo and Scrappy era I wouldn't have shed a tear. However, now some twenty years later I enjoyed my 4 year old son imitating Scrappy's moxie. Being a die hard Scooby fan I prefer the run and hide, find food and sleep attack. For any Scooby Doo fan or collector it is a must have item. With approximately 279 mins of run time this Volume 1 is worth every cent. The balance between RR and SD is enjoyable, however the only draw back, if you want to call it that, is listening to the theme songs relentlessly. Of course thats why the electronic gurus invented high speed scan and skip options on the DVD remote. If I were to rate this on a scale of 1 to 10, for content, value, and enjoyment. I would rate this winner at 9.75

I'm Hanna Barbera fan & it was wonderful!!! It reminded me of when I was a little kid watching cartoons, loved it, it would be cool to see Richie Rich meet the Flintstones or even the Jetsons, that be fun!!!

Scooby Doo Richie rich hour
My little boy just loves scooby doo and scrappy too... I don't care for scrappy but if he likes it.... you know how that is.... The episodes are a little short for my taste... It is over as soon as it starts... and then there is Richie rich.... Which me nor my little boy care for... But overall this was a very worth wile purchase... because my little one just loves scrappy...
