      Good stack sound

Sounds great at low gain ranges. I set my "sound" control to about 10 o'clock, some bass and treble both turned down some. It makes a great crunch rhythm sound, and when you then hit it with a tube-screamer type pedal, gives fantastic lead tone. Setting the "sound" control any higher results in too much hiss.

    • Best real Marshall type of sound from a pedal I've ever heard.

I am a veteran guitar player, and have used pedals for many, many years, by BOSS and by others. I have tried (or owned) most every distortion pedal on the market at one time or another. To me, the ST-2 feels and responds more like playing directly through an amp than any pedal I've ever tried-except for the other amp emulating BOSS distortion, the BC-2, which also has that feel. It has a very Marshall-y tone, but better and more musical than most I've played through. It sounds like the way I wish my Marshalls sounded, plus you don't have to turn it up to stun to get that fat tone. In my opinion (and ultimately isn't sound about opinion?) it's the best sounding distortion (for that kind of Marshall or other Euro-stack tone) I've ever used, and you'll certainly notice the feel factor right ...

    • Best Boss Distortion

This is so far the best distortion made by Boss. Using it with Laney AOR 100MV 6 knobber. Low end is even better than Bogner Ubershall. I love this pedal so much. And as previous guys said it's sound Marshall. Yes you can hear easy JCM 800 in this pedal . I own Ubershall and Ecstasy by Bogner , but honestly..I prefer ST-2 especially for it low end and general power . If you think about this pedal don't hesitate . You will be not disappointed .

    • Perfect cranked Marshall Tone in a Pedal

Perfect Marshall cranked tone. It seems as though there may also be some noise gating built in. Any how this unit just gets me to the perfect tight focused Marshall tone I was looking for. I was searching for something that would help pull those Joe Satriani screaming harmonics out of the guitar without the normal fingered riffs falling apart or getting flabby in the bottom end. This pedal just does that perfectly. A second one of these set with less saturation would get me the perfect AC-DC sound. Not quite a guitar volume control responsive device, mainly a full tilt go-grab-em type thing, but certainly the best solution I've found yet for those focused punchy Marshall tones.

    • Need a Marshall in a box? Try this one before you go all boutique.

I first tried out this pedal as a salesman at a local music store. I had tried some of the Boss COSM modules in their multi track recorders and left kind of unimpressed. That is definitely NOT the case with this pedal. You get a wide range of overdrive/distortion that is musical at every point. It is very amp like in the way it responds to your playing as well as where you set the gain level. It is musical all the way from its most benign setting all the way to full on. It has a great lower midrange focus and can make a single 12" combo amp get a pretty convincing stack tone complete with that "cabinet whack" in the lower registers. It also, much like the Marshalls it emulates, responds well to having a TS9 in front of it with the drive set low and the level cranked. It just tightens up ...
