Continuing the adventures of Kate Walker and Hans Voralberg, Syberia II offers players a refined graphic engine with added animation, more characters to interact with, and broader environments in which to explore. Further enhancing the atmosphere are cinematic camera angles and a dialog system that now changes according to which questions were previously asked of characters. The interface remains the same as the original game, with navigation accomplished using a point-and-click system with context sensitive areas that allow players to inspect items or points of interest more closely, initiate conversations, grab objects, and perform actions. The backgrounds once again consist of pre-rendered artwork designed by French artist Benoît Sokal, who also wrote the story. As the narrative unfolds, Kate Walker is now a companion to Hans Voralberg instead of an attorney looking to track him down. Kate's previous role in life in now of secondary importance as she begins a journey of epic proportions, one to find the fabled homeland of the living mammoths.

If you know little or nothing about the Syberia series, it involves a New York based lawyer named Kate Walker who gets involved in an intriguing case that takes her across the pond to Europe and beyond. The cast is an interesting blend including an life size automaton that should be diagnosed with OCD, an overbearing mother, cosmonaut, monks, a couple of dimwit criminal types with a London cockney out of Mary Poppins, and many others. The full scale wind up train is a looker, and the scenery is amazing. Benoit Sokal has quite an imagination. This game is for anybody who enjoyed the first Syberia, or likes to solve puzzles and mysteries. If you are anything like me, you probably could not wait for SyberiaII to come out, because you never got to go there in #1! Prior to the game's ... It has all of the elements of a successful mystery inlcuding and excellent story line, characters, and setting. Highly recommended. PS You will be amused with a certain playful creature which I will not name. I can't give away everything!

A real brain-teaser!
If you like puzzles, you are going to LOVE this game! Syberia 2 is loaded with puzzle after puzzle after puzzle... from the simple to the pull-your-hair-out wanna throw the controller tricky kind- heh! Don't go consulting the cheats too early though- If you play long enough and pay attention to clues, you will get them and have hours of fun with this game. Oh, did I mention the graphics? OUTSTANDING! A great story line with lots of beautiful scenery by a real master. A couple places where I could see a bit of improvement is if there was some action incorporated into this game. For example, when our heroin catches up with one of the kidnappers there is a fight- How awesome would it be if you controlled her moves? There is alot of action in this game, but in the form of action clips... One ... If you like puzzles, you are going to LOVE this game! Superb! Just as good as the first one!
Syberia 2 is as good as the first game if not better. And I am saying this and I haven't even completed the game yet. I liked 99% of the stuff about the game, especially how intuitive you have to be to figure out some of the puzzle and what to do. You can spends week trying to figure out one little thing and I love it. My one complaint is the slight change in how you click on items to view or use them, but other than that the game is phenomenal!Syberia 2 is as good as the first game if not better.
