The build quality is nice with smooth moving rings for focus and zoom. There is a decent amount of metal to it and it feels strong as a result, also the weather sealing is a real bonus. The vibration correction is very good and I would say 4 stops of reduction is actually the case here. The angle of view of 10-24mm (15 to 36mm full frame equivalent) is really very wide and can make very interesting images. The lens has decent sharpness wide open at 10mm although you will notice some edge and corner softening at that focal length it is better than I was expecting, while 24mm is its softest focal length it is still totally useable. There is some chromatic aberration near the edges but it is pretty low. You will notice distortion if you do any brick wall shots but in regular use I have no problem with it, and it can be corrected in post. This lens is slower than some others like the Tokina 11-16mm and 11-20mm f/2.8 so not ideal for freezing action in low light but a good choice for most other applications. All in all a good stabilized and weather sealed lens for aps-c which can shoot indoors and at night if you are not trying to freeze action in low light. Good value for the money in my opinion as I like the images it makes.Read full review

The Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD is an affordable option in this market but its affordability comes with a number of compromises. Now, if you just intend to shoot at f/8, you can get reasonably happy with this lens. However, at large aperture settings, it's mediocre at best with soft corners. Adding insult to injury, there's also a heavy field curvature at 10mm. Lateral CAs are Okay at the image borders but they can be disturbing in the image corners. Image distortions are about average for a lens in this class with heavy barrel distortion at 10mm. Vignetting is very noticeable at large-aperture settings. The build quality of the Tamron lens is decent and about in line with what you can expect from a modern, consumer-grade offering. Manual focusing is not a joy due to the cheap focusing ring but then most users won't bother anyway. The Tamron is not a bad lens but, ultimately, it is just not "good enough". There are simply better options out there.Read full review

The lens arrived in excellent cosmetic and working condition. I am very happy with the high quality German built filter. My only wish is that it included a lens shade. The original ad made it very clear that it was not included. I tried using a generic wide angle shade which caused vignetting at the wide end. I ended up having to order a Tamron original hood which was more difficult to source than I had anticipated. Should be here in a week or so. The lens focuses quickly and the images are very sharp. Overall it was a very positive purchase experience.

This is an ultra wide lens. This means you can use it for landscape photography. It’s very well built, it looks like a pricier lens, and works like one.
