It's a film I have not seen in long while and found it very entertaining. I have always been a fan of Bing Crosby and I loved every minute of this film

Bought DVD solely for A Connecticut Yankee which I had seen many years ago. Not so impressed with The Emperor Waltz although quality of both DVDs was very good.
A double helping of Bing Crosby would brighten the darkest, wettest Sunday afternoon! In the "Yankee" saga he plays a feller from the early 20th century who finds himself in King Arthur's court in the days when knights were bold. Best features of a fairly run-of-the-mill comedy are the glorious Technicolor production and the song "We're busy doing nothing" sung by Bing, Cedric Hardwicke and William Bendix. The Emperor Waltz is probably the worst film from ace director Billy Wilder but it definitely has its moments and is quirky fun. Bing plays a salesman of newfangled gramophones trying to make his fortune in imperial Austria. Lots of waltzing, a romance with Joan Fontaine and a barmy sub-plot about Bing's dog falling for a posh poodle. But it's all genial fun.
I lost my mother three years ago and her favourite film was Emperor Waltz because she simply loved Bing Crosby. When she married my step dad she told me she had told him off because when he was younger he was an avid golfer and a man at a golf club he visited one day asked him if he wanted to play a round with him and he refused. It later turned out that it was Bing Crosby who asked him and mum was furious. She would have jumped at the chance. I miss her so dearly as this film helps bring her closer to me on days when I am feeling down. While I am able to watch this dvd she will always be with me and I cant thank the seller enough for giving me the chance to win this dvd. Its brilliant.
