a rare winning majority in 2019
Sound quality excellent for price and size of speakers, a little fiddly initially to programme own favourite internet radio stations, but does have some preloaded, easy to wet up on wifi, dab radio clear, FM not as good, but thin thats due to area rather than unit, not tried cd function yet, Remote control a little small but does the job. Looks good but sound is bad.
The radio I purchased was a refurbished one. I believe it had been returned by another customer and resold faulty it was not repaired at all. The Majority King radio has a good appearance but I had to return it because the sound was unacceptable.It has a constant, crackly, funny buzzing noise from both speakers and even from headphones. This became annoying. What is good: good appearance. What is bad: 1. Mine was faulty and it was not repaired. 2. It was advertised by Majority as a 30W system - more like a 2 x 5W. 3. There is no written technical specifications only a vague advert on the manufacturer's website. 4. There is no Ethernet port for reliable wired internet connection. 5. There is no bluetooth out. 6. There is no line out. 7. There is no separate volume control knob. One knob ... The radio I purchased was a refurbished one. FM wasn't good reception with aerial down but looks naf if up, so my advice is forget FM and use the DAB & Internet radios (and you should be able to pick up all the DAB stuff on internet radio if the reception is bad as well. The box looks well made and has an understated style about it. Sound is reasonable for the price (very reasonable when you buy a factory reconditioned one for £44) and the display is great - I like that I can see the weather reports for my area (there are some other options as well). Overall, if you want expensive HiFi, buy an expensive HiFi. If you want a kick-ass radio cd player with a reasonable quality sound, buy this.
