Adequate but not great
I bought this for somebody else, thinking it was similar to the Olympus WS100 which I have been using for some years. In fact it is nowhere near as good, particularly as regards sound quality. The reproduction is tinny and telephone-like regardless of the settings or microphone used. It's adequate for dictation but a bit irritating if you have to listen to a full-length lecture or talk. The WS100 is good enough to record music, although not hi-fi of course. Also unless the model has the suffix PC it's not possible to transfer files directly to another device such as a laptop or computer. All you can do is play the file and re-record it on the other device with a cable from the earphone socket. Finally, the maximum record time at the HQ setting is only about two hours. It was at a very cheap price. It has a very large memory and is simple to use. I do recordings to send to my son in Australia but he is unable to convert the recording to something that he can listen to on his PC.
