Written by stars Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd, who scripted both blockbuster films, Ghostbusters: The Video Game features a storyline set two years after the events depicted in Ghostbusters 2. Hailed by New York City residents as heroes, the Ghostbusters are hoping to turn their thriving business into a franchise, much to the chagrin of ex-EPA agent Walter Peck. After the Ghostbusters hire a new crewmember, the city is overwhelmed with a surge of paranormal activity. There's something even stranger in the neighborhood, and you're getting the call. Since the game is all about hunting down and capturing ghosts, the perspective is set behind your character's shoulder to offer a clear view of the rooms and spectral anomalies ahead. The third-person viewpoint also displays one of the most important tools you'll have in confronting the ghosts: the Proton Pack. You must monitor the Proton Pack's power consumption to avoid overheating the device, and the backpack's flashing display also indicates health and weapon charge. Your character will be in constant radio communication with other members of the Ghostbusters team, including Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore, each voiced by the movie's original actors. While the storyline and core play mechanics are the same across platforms, the Wii and PlayStation 2 games share a simplified, cartoon-like art style and an emphasis on multiplayer action. The first notable difference is cooperative support throughout the campaign via split-screen display, with the Wii version offering four-player action and the PlayStation 2 game offering two. Competitive modes include two playable sides: Ghostbusters or ghosts. As a ghost, you can fly or phase through specific areas in a room. You can also "scare" rivals by sneaking up behind them, leaving your victims more susceptible to attacks. As one of the Ghostbusters, you can use proton packs, ghost traps, and character-specific special techniques.

Easy game to play
I would have given it 5 stars but sometimes it freezes up, and also I think the price was a bit high. It is a great game to play if you love the ghostbusters. The company we ordered it from was fine, too. Yes I do recommend it.

Who you gonna call? You know damn well who! If you don't know the answer to the question, "Who you gonna call?", just kill yourself because no one will miss you! This game rocks for several reasons. First of all, it a lot of fun to bust ghosts. Second, eventhough the game is more cartoony like The Real Ghostbusters, it still has a classic feel to it. Everyone is back to do the voices which is a huge plus. I wouldn't be able to stand it if it wasn't Bill Murray's actual smart ass remarks. And lastly, the third movie comes out this year and everything Ghostbusters is very popular right now. There is no Dana, only Zoolllll!!!Who you gonna call? You know damn well who! Ghostbusters for the PlayStation 2 is incredible,visually different from the X-Box 360 and PlayStation 3 release, nothing short of incredible thou. The movie actors return to voice their characters in this game, the next best option than actually working on a movie. Easter Eggs from the first two films are scattered throughout the game to keep the memories going and the raw thrill of using familiar ghost trapping equipment and new gadgets makes for an ultimate Ghostbusters PlayStation 2 experience. The PlayStation 2 version (also the Nintendo Wii version) share a cartoony visual presentation that surprisingly has a welcome style for PlayStation 2 game power. Being a new recruit in the game busting ghost next to the four original ghostbusters throughout each level has become a dream come ... Great game for those with patience.
Ghostbusters: the Video Game was one of my most anticipated games of all time. Being an avid fan of all things Ghostbusters, this game was a must buy. I had found the PC version for a good price, but I could only play the game on my Dad's new Laptop. The game lagged at the start, just because Laptops apparently are not the best choice for game playing. The experience did not suffer too much, because at times the game would flow like it was meant to be played. I finished the PC version wanting more. I bought the PS2 version in hopes that the game play would be better, but I was wrong. From the start the game takes forever to start up. Be ready to read "War and Peace" in between load times. Of course, the loading would not be so bad if the bugs in the game did not have to force me to ... Ghostbusters: the Video Game was one of my most anticipated games of all time.
