About this product

Product Information

Teleonomy seeks to demonstrate the essential relationship binding liberty and tradition. This thesis runs entirely contrary to the prevailing dogmas of the age. At present, the loudest defenders of liberty are wholly libertine, while the defenders of tradition , however many now remain, understand the might of the state as the sole means to their own ends. In its three parts, Teleonomy does away with the misconceptions underlying both of these political philosophies, and in their wake establishes a positive unity of libertarian means and traditionalist ends. The work begins with an attempted destruction of what is commonly understood by the words economy and economics, by proving that the only possible grounds of such a science are such that any limitation of its scope to a subset of human reality or of human value must be unjustifiable, such that any conception of 'economics' which draws some intrinsic relation to the monetary nexus must be done away with. Following this, it is shown that all statist, conservative reactions to the decadence highlighted in the first part must be confused and counter-productive. In its latter half, the work establishes liberty's true response to what has thus far been stated, through an analysis of the fundamental structure underlying all human behaviour, resulting in the demonstration that freedom and duty within society arise jointly from a singular spiritual quality of man.

Item was as described and arrived well packaged. Price was reasonable. Dispatch of item was a little on the slower side, but it arrived safely and in good conditoon, so can overlook it to be fair. Seller replies quickly to messages and answers any questions well. Once it was dispatched it arrived quickly. Over all, happy with purchase and would buy from again.

This book is new and is as described in the listing. A slow dispatch was not due to the seller as a third party was responsible for packaging and sending it. The item was eventually delivered by Royal Mail well within the period dates shown. Having purchased from this seller previously a feature of both purchases was the slow dispatch for which the seller is not responsible.

Cover shown on website didn’t match that of book sent. (I’d anticipated the lovely cover art as illustrated.) The book sent has disappointing cover artwork of later or earlier edition. My fault rather than a complaint. Should have contacted seller before ordering, as I did with previous Paul Gallico book I'd ordered from same seller, who were very helpful. (On that occasion I did get the book/cover I wanted.) Moral of the story: check with seller if this sort of thing is important to you.
