' ... this Companion implements in every respect the claims its publishers make for it as 'an essential guide to all aspects of the organ and its music'. Perhaps unusually for so valuable a book of reference, much of it also makes engrossing reading.' Church Times, '… editors of this Companion have done an excellent job in producing a sharply-focused, coherent set of essays within 330 pages … this is a book that can usefully, indeed should, be read by anyone interested in the organ and its music. Students will need their own copies for constant reference, while the more experienced will be stilumated, informed and challenged.' Music and Letters, "...The Cambridge Companion to the Organ...offers the reader an excellent summary of organbuilding, organ performance, and the major schools of organ music. For scholarly, yet accessible surveys of the major schools of organ music, the Companion stands alone." The American Organist, ‘ … never less than readable, and sometimes positively compelling … an extremely valuable book that should be on every musician’s bookshelf.’The Musical Times, ‘… editors of this Companion have done an excellent job in producing a sharply-focused, coherent set of essays within 330 pages … this is a book that can usefully, indeed should, be read by anyone interested in the organ and its music. Music and Letters, "The Cambridge Companions to Music series offers a concise and useful overview of several musical instruments and a selection of composers. The volume is well laid out and thorough in its coverage, although intentionally limited because of the instrument's long and expansive history." Choice, "...this volume...is to be recommended to the accomplished organist or organ enthusiast. The essays provide much interesting and accurate information and should provoke much stimulating conversation." Peter V. Picerno, Notes, ' … never less than readable, and sometimes positively compelling … an extremely valuable book that should be on every musician's bookshelf.' Item as described. Poly mailer, no padding. Description clearly states delivery window of several weeks. Yet I chose this seller because item is new. Purchased/paid April 16, shipped April 28, arrived Maryland to SC May 5.This after contacting seller on day 10 to ask why it had not shipped yet. Slow return communication requesting invoice number/transaction date. Just be aware. IMHO eBay has sellers with faster, more efficient delivery service.
