    Quirky, poignant and philosophical show, brilliantly written and acted

    Set in the fictional Alaskan town of Cicely, populated by a community of diverse eccentrics including an ex-NASA astronaut, Northern Exposure begins with the arrival of the young down on his luck doctor Joel Fleishman, and his and our introduction to the colourful locals. Whilst definitely quirky and offbeat, this show is also often very poignant and philosophical with brilliantly drawn characters who live out their lives in a world full of odd customs, social conventions and stories which, although strange, you can relate to and fully immerse yourself in. When I originally saw this series when it was first broadcast in the early '90s, I thought it so good that it was worth the TV licence fee alone.

    More information, was needed.

    Product was new and unopened but it was not advertised as needing to being played in a certain region. The US is region and these dvd's will only play in region 2 so had to get a non region player which added to the cost and I would have boughten from a US source. Otherwise once I could play the discs it was good.

    Excellent series

    Each of the characters, have a different view on life, and tell their story in their unique way. Brilliant. Moving along at a slower pace than the hustle and bustle of modern city life, makes the viewer relax , and enjoy the moment.
