    14tb WD ELEMENTS External USB3 hard drive

    This drive is an excellent addition to your desktop. I wanted something BIG for backups. I had previously used LTO Tape drives for backup but they are very slow compared to a drive like this. I have two 4Tb hard drives and an SSD in my workstation. This Elements external backs up the system in no time. In fact it’s so quick I don’t even realise it’s happened. Great for any system and plenty of space for numerous Full System Backups and countless Incremental Backups. I use Linux but you can use what you want. Apples Time Machine for instance on your Mac. And of course numerous Windows packages. Sure you can keep your documents and important on a cloud, google, Dropbox, etc. but you try reinstalling your system from scratch without a system backup. You’ll be messing about all day doing ...

    Attractive price.

    As expected but only brings 12.7TB to my Windows 10 system so bear that in mind. The drive isn't completely silent as you do get a periodic light knocking sound when in operation but this is normal for HDD. Extra desk mounting material would help to reduce. I wouldn't classify this drive as noisy or annoying. On-board power button is available for unit shut-down. The data lead length is around 3ft. Power cable length is ample.

    Good value for backup but not fast

    It's good value per TB and I trust WD to be reliable. It is however no the fastest of drives.

    NOT the one I ordered!

    I wanted the one in this photo! But I received the data back up version only when I clearly ordered this one , so I can’t plug the usb wire into my media player to watch data it won’t read! , only reads when it’s plugged into a pc / laptop , so annoying!
