Se estudian voces femeninas del Siglo de Oro espanol, como las intelectuales religiosas sor Maria de Jesus de Agreda y sor Marcela de San Felix, la prensa de mujeres de ambos lados del Atlantico durante las primeras decadas del siglo XIX y, dentro del siglo XX, obras y autoras que se situan en la II Republica y la epoca de Franco: Mercedes Ballesteros, Josefina de la Torre, Carmen de Icaza, Mercedes Formica y Josefina Rodriguez Aldecoa. Tambien, se dedican capitulos a la obra de escritoras nacidas entre los anos 40-60, como Amelia Diaz Benlliure, Mar Busquets-Mataix, Albis Torres, Ana Sofia Perez-Bustamante y Daisy Zamora. Se incluyen, ademas, artistas y formas expresivas recientes: la rapera y activista guatemalteca Rebeca Lane, humoristas espanolas que usan el tabu como elemento subversivo, escritoras chicanas que analizan el racismo en sus diferentes formas, y creadoras de fotolibros con sus representaciones del cuerpo femenino.
