About this product

Product Information

Dr Francis S. Collins, head of the Human Genome Project, is one of the world's leading scientists, working at the cutting edge of the study of DNA, the code of life. Yet he is also a man of unshakable faith in God. How does he reconcile the seemingly unreconcilable? In THE LANGUAGE OF GOD he explains his own journey from atheism to faith, and then takes the reader on a stunning tour of modern science to show that physics, chemistry and biology -- indeed, reason itself -- are not incompatible with belief. His book is essential reading for anyone who wonders about the deepest questions of all: why are we here? How did we get here? And what does life mean?

Not the first time I've bought from Rarewaves who I've never had any issue with so most likely won't be the last. They often seem to have some great products that are sometimes difficult to obtain elsewhere. They are usually well priced, products as described and in this case brand new and still sealed. First class communication and timely delivery with very secure packaging mean you never have to worry about purchasing with this A+++ Seller.

  • A Christian scientist's defence of evolution by natural selection

This book seems to be written just to convince those Christians who believe in a seven day Creation (young earth Christians) that they can still hold on to their Christian faith while accepting the overwhelming evidence for evolution. It seems that half of Americans believe in creation as presented in the bible, and this is causing problems because some schools teach only creationism and not evolution. It would in no way convince an atheist or agnostic that there is any 'God'. The book is an argument for accepting the evidence for evolution while also believing in a God that answers prayers and that has a part in all that goes on in the world. Not very well done, and not convincing, in my opinion.

  • Everyone should read this book, especially if you think that Faith and Science are incompatible

Many books start with the Theological basis of religion. Collins takes a different approach acknowledging what is common ground across all faiths which for him is the Moral dimension in Man. He cautions about what he terms 'the God of the gaps' - assigning God to only those things that we currently do not understand. This is a wonderful synthesis of belief and science at its cutting edge. In the appendix he deals with some of our current questions about what is life and what are the moral issues that we currently face in answering this question.
