The Most Unappreciated Eagles LP
The Most under appreciated Eagles album. This concept LP was recorded in the UK with renowned producer Glynn Johns who wanted this LA based band to do as much acoustic arrangements of their songs as they were able. "Out of Control" was Glenn Frey's response to that philosophy. Randy Meisner has a few worthy tunes on this one, "Saturday Night" in particular is a stand out. Besides the title cut that was later re-recorded by Linda Ronstadt, it also features "Tequila Sunrise" for you hit single types out there. Bernie Leadon's instrumental contributions on banjo and mandolin in particular show off the band's ability to write, perform and record several genres worth of material within this LP. His song, "Bitter Creek" is my favorite cut on the project. For VN vets in particular, it ... The Most under appreciated Eagles album. If you are starting a music collection, start with this one.
This is my 4th and 5th copies of this album. I wore out 2 vinyl copies back in the seventies. My album collection was stolen. When I restarted my music collection with cassettes(what's a cassette?), this is the first album I bought. I have a cd copy with tons of plays on it, and couldn't find it one night after a jam session with local musicians. One of them did six songs from this album, and I realized I knew all the words, and how to sing harmony with him. Once again the album touched my soul, and I had to have a new copy. I am nearing retirement age, and one friend 20 years younger at that jam session had never heard it, so I bought him a copy. He can't quit playing it either. Back when the Eagles were "it"
Excellent quality cd in a perfect case. The under-appreciated cowboy-themed album has certainly aged well.Just a great collection of songs that takes this old guy back to his college days!
