I had the one disc set before this came out and I can't stop playing these discs....can they get overplayed...cuz my girlfriend thinks so....boy do we miss Rory....these sound great and just show how great he truly was...I can't play these loud enough...I wish his estate would put out some more unreleased material so we can listen to his epic jams..I'm waiting for the Taste cds to get to my house but for now these ROCK..I recommend them to anyone because they will change your view of who really was the BEST guitar player at the time and even when Hendrix was alive...just as John Lennon said...

Rory Gallagher in all the glory he can muster! A truly welcome historical document of his band at their peak. Great shows and enough variation on the song selection and presentation to interest the casual fan or archival expert. Sound quality does vary from show to show but overall, a gutsy presentation at venues most musicians wouldn't play at this time because of the Irish "Troubles" i.e. bombings and shootings taking place near these concert hall venues. The only disappointment is the poorly filmed Tony Palmer DVD which could have been a great record of these proceedings, but the director chose to take tight shots of all the action, denying fans the opportunity to actually see Rory's great guitar work and concentrating instead on close ups which do not provide the watcher with any context for his musicianship. Other than that, the musical intensity of the band and Rory's interplay with them has seldom been captured at a higher or more exciting level for the guitarist than at these shows.Read full review
