This is a now OOP CD by Getz, from about seven years into his recording career. On it, he has already mastered the sound that he became known for as the boss of tenor sax. Oh sure, thirty years previously Coleman Hawkins had invented the instrument as a jazz voice, and he was still around and being his own master. and Lester Young still was showing all the younger sax men the ideas that Hawkins had not had. Getz had, from his own corner of ethnicity, had played the tenor with a tone and a style that showed all the others how the instrument could sound, when played right. By this point in his career, he was one of the best, and after Hawkins and Young had died, he was the best.
