A boon to collectors and death metal enthusiasts, this document records three live show from tours associated with each of Nocturnus' albums: "The Key" (1991), "Thresholds" (1993), and a 1997 tour that featured much of the material on their 2000 album ETHEREAL TOMB. The Florida band were contemporaries of many local groups on the death metal scene, but they possessed a few qualities that set them apart from the pack. Their virtuosic musicianship and incorporation of keyboards lent their music a progressive rock sound, augmented by their proclivity toward instrumental songs and guitar solos. Their lyrics, not the centerpiece of their style but nonetheless in evidence, took science fiction topics as their subject matter, an anomaly at the time. Though critically lauded, the group faced a somewhat dubious public, who were unsure of what to so with such atypical fare. An ever-fluctuating lineup contributed to the obscurity of their trajectory, and they eventually broke up for good in 2002. This collection was recorded by fans in the audience at each concert, and was authorized by the band members themselves. It remains a testament to the innovation and power of the group, and the intensity of their live performances.
