      Porringer Dilemma

      On the whole this porringer does its job well, and seems to be well built apart from the stainless knob on the glass lid which came off as I set it up first time. The lid itself crashed down on the glass top of the cooker and then on to the floor. Amazingly neither item was broken or scratched. I successfully used the bain-mairie without its lid because the milk needed regular stirring anyway and it did its job well. I can’t make out how the knob was meant to be stuck on, maybe the assembler forgot the glue? maybe its a friction fit? I rammed it back on and it seems to be fixed but for how long? will it expand and let go again?

      Cooks well, with a couple of unpleasant surprises; a joy to wash up.

      It's hard to find a good double boiler in Britain these days, and even harder to find a non-stick one. This one is small, though big enough for porridge or scrambled egg for one or two, which is all I need. The non-stick coating works perfectly, though mine is a little powdery, presumably because it's new. The upper pan is domed to sit deeply in the water in the lower pan, which seems efficient. I was rather surprised that unless the upper pan is weighted down with food, the pressure of the boiling water below will dislodge it. I was even more surprised that the pan handles have no insulation at all: you won't be able to use it without an oven glove.

      Great product and a good price, what more is there to like?!!!

      A double boiler with a non - stick surface wow!! We bought this to put an end to the hours spent cleaning the inside pan after we have made porridge and it certainly did the trick!! The pan was cleaned so easily, why didn't we find this product years ago??!! We are very pleased with this!!

      Porringer spot on

      Been looking for one that's just right for a long while, whilst it may seem small, it does enough porridge, custard, rice pudding mac n cheese for 4. Non stick makes for easy cleaning. No more burnt pans.
