    Best value wheels for replacing plastic ones

    These are fantastic value and quality, I model in HO and because the flanges on the wheels are done to the RP25 standard I had no problems with the radius being a little bigger than standard European model wheels. I did not want the 3 hole type wheels but there is a recess on the face of the wheels so I could easily cut some discs from card to blank of the holes. I purchased my wheels from Jadlamracing as not only did they give free postage but they also give a discount if you buy more than one pack!

    Dapol replacement wheels, pack of twenty

    a good stylish product with both wheels insulated from the axle, easy to adjust the gauge to suit your OO gauge setter if needed. Will buy again when needed. Just be aware that the diameter of the wheels is 12.5mm which is not stated in the description.

    Good - but check axle lengths

    While for Dapol these are also right for *SOME* Hornby wagons and about half the price of 'real' Hornby Good for earlier Hornby (UK) wagons (say c.1995 and before) and these are usually the ones needing wheel replacements as they were plastic. Note that later Hornby (China) wagons have/need slightly shorter axles (25.6mm is OK) and these wheels are not OK on them. The exact axle length is 25.94mm, and 21.44mm over an insulating bush in each wheel. This also means the axle is not live so could affect any ideas you have of using these as pickups onto an axle

    Good value

    These wheels are excellent and are almost half price of the hornby and bachmann items. Hornby seems a little deep in the flanges and bachmann wheels sometimes are not quite central resulting a wobble. I've bought about 100 of dapol wheels and have never had a dodgy one. Extremely good value.
