As it happened, the part arrived promptly and was easy and quick to fit. Job done. Now looks identical to how the etrex would have looked had the original cover not had button rot. My worry is that although the part was clearly "new" it represents something that has languished on a shelf many years and hence will prematurely disintegrate. So mixed feelings on value.
