    THE ALPINE QUILT: The 17th Solid Mary Daheim Whodunit

    What's not to like about a solid whodunit wherein one of the murder suspects advises another character (speaking of her undies), "Really, Darla, if it's genuine Belgian lace, I wouldn't sell it at any price, especially not on eBay." Especially not if it's USED lingerie — we all know eBay's rules about THAT. If it's new Belgian lace lingerie, well, that's a different story. But I digress. Genevieve Bayard has come back to the small town of Alpine, Washington, to be fêted by the local quilting society and to visit her son. But the reunion goes horribly awry when she keels over dead during dinner with her best friend. Emma Lord, owner and publisher of local newspaper "The Alpine Advocate", vows to investigate (as she always does) and tries as usual to enlist the help of her trusted House & ...

    Emma Lord Mystery HARDCOVER 2005

    In this story, Genevieve Bayard returns to Alpine for a reunion with women of the Burl Creek Thimble Club, a quilters group and also to see her son. Genevieve suddenly dies while having dinner with friends one evening. Alpine's newspaper editor, Emma Lord, investigates the death despite of being warned to back off from boyfriend, Sheriff Milo Dodge. Emma reveals a lot of little dark secrets and a possible affair Genevieve was having. All evidence points to Vida, who was Genevieve's best friend and Emma's co-worker. Emma goes into high gear to exonerate Vida, but stirs up a hornest nest of more secrets along the way. The whole story will come together just like a quilt, square by square. An intricate plot with many mazes. One of Ms. Danheim's better mystery's in this series.
