In my application, the surrounds attach to the angled underside of the cones. I trimmed 3mm off the OD, slid the surround behind the cone, and glued the surround to the frame first. When dry, I then inserted glue between the underside of the cone and the surround. Spread the glue with a small hobby brush, and pressed together. The surrounds work great and look original. It was a fun project.
