Now get ready for pulse-pounding racing action as these die-cast race cars come to life on the PlayStation in Hot Wheels Turbo Racing. Developed by Stormfront Studios and published by Electronic Arts, the game features 11 twisting tracks and plenty of stunts like flips, barrel rolls and 360-degree spins.<br><br>Get behind the wheel of over 40 classic Hot Wheels cars including The Red Baron, Twin Mill (The King of Speed) and Super Van (5,000 pounds of car-smashing terror). Each car has its own strengths and weaknesses, so you'll have to experiment to find out which one is best suited to your driving style. You'll have your choice of many different tracks, some built for all out speed and others filled with loops and obstacles to challenge your stunt mastery.<br><br>The gameplay consists of three different race modes and two practice modes. Perfect your style in the Practice mode, where one or two players try out available tracks to get familiar with the game (and to find hidden short cuts). You can also select Practice Airtime, which is a stunt training mode that allows you to try out different tracks to perfect your stunt and trick maneuvers. Then earn points in the Exhibition Race where you go head-to-head with a friend or a number of computer-controlled opponents in an all-out race. This includes Airtime Challenge, a one or two-player stunt battle, and the Hot Wheels Cup, which is a racing tournament event made up of a series of tracks. The better you perform in each race the more points you'll score. The driver with the most points at the end of the tournament will win.<br><br>The game's tracks feature hidden cars, shortcuts and power-ups at various points along the courses. Power-ups include a Car of Steel that gives your vehicle maximum durability, spin-increasing Gyros that make stunt maneuvering easier, the bouncy Rubber Car, the power, handling and grip increasing Super Handling, Turbo Boosts and the 4X4 pickup that allows you to go off-road.<br><br>Turbo Boosts play an important role in the game. This power allows you to blow away your opponents with an incredible boost of speed in addition to increasing your airtime for pulling off more impressive stunts. As you collect Turbo Boosts throughout the game, they will register on your onscreen Turbo Meter. You must use this power cautiously and at the right time to help you score points and win the race!<br><br>Hot Wheels Turbo Racing uses one block of memory for saved games and is vibration function and analog control compatible. In-game options include adjustable difficulty levels, custom control configurations and the ability to change musical selections. The soundtrack offers musical tracks by actual bands such as Metallica's Fuel, Primus' Hampster Style, Mix Master Mike's Outee 360 and The Reverend Horton Heat's Pride of San Jacinto.<br><br>Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.     Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing

    I bought this game for my son about ten years ago and I remember playing it with him. The was a blast then and now that I own another copy I once again get to enjoy this game. this game has a real low learning curve so it is a great first game for you young children. it is a great way to spend time with the family. I would not recommend this game for any one who is a hard core gamer as it would be real easy to win the game for them. there is short cuts on these track and sometimes it takes a bit to find them but over all I think that this is a real fun family game to play. this game will play on a PS2 with out a problem and turn on the analog function and use the joy sticks and feel the vibrations in your hands. this game is easy to play and easy to master, but for me it is still fun even ...

    An overall great racing title for the PS1.

    When most imagine the "Hot Wheels" license, they instantly think "kids only game". This game is not the case, as it is extremely enjoyable for all ages. I loved this game in 1999, and still love it to this day. This game includes 11 tracks, over 40 playable cars, and also a decent soundtrack; which includes Alex Skolnick, Metallica, and many other bands of late 90s popularity. Each of the 40+ vehicles has their own set of stats which will appeal to all kinds of players. Furthermore, the game is incredibly diverse in its track types: from winter, to desert, to toxic waste. Controls for the vehicle are extremely easy to just pick up and play, but the challenge level is very high, and will have you re-doing some races over and over to master the tracks.     Game doesn't work!

    Product does not work. Tested on 2 different systems. Very disappointed after being assured it worked when I brought up concern about the extreme scratching on the disc upon receiving it. This was a gift for someone and this was their favorite game so imagine the disappointment felt by myself and the recipient when we loaded up the system and the game won't even read.
