About this product

Product Information

With more than 700 mushrooms detailed with color photographs and descriptive text, this is the most comprehensive photographic field guide to the mushrooms of North America. The 762 full-color identification photographs show the mushrooms as they appear in natural habitats. Organized visually, the book groups all mushrooms by color and shape to make identification simple and accurate in the field, while the text account for each species includes a detailed physical description, information on edibility, season, habitat, range, look-alikes, alternative names, and facts on edible and poisonous species, uses, and folklore. A supplementary section on cooking and eating wild mushrooms, and illustrations identifying the parts of a mushroom, round out this essential guide.

Great transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe

Excellent purchase. Was able to get all three items from the one seller. Seller was able to bundle all three items together into one package. Items as described and arrived in perfect condition. Good communication around shipping and tracking as items delayed and not able to be delivered by original estimate. Thanks to shipping updates I was able to track the items arriving before the extended delivery time. Thank you for making these items available on EBay.

    The amateur mushroom fanatics bible

This book is a great resource for the amateur mushroom enthusiast. A compact book easy to use with great photos. I'm happy with my mushroom bible. (The cover of the book feels durable and is flexible enough to manage while "on the hunt" for these treasures.

  • Different type of guide, but thorough.

It's a comprehensive book, covering hundreds of species. That said, it's quite different than other guides, with photos all together toward the front of the book, and references to descriptions in the later section. I didn't deduct a point for the inconvenience and extra trouble it takes to look things up because it covers so many types of mushrooms, and does so for an incredibly inexpensive price. I'd say it takes getting used to, but well worth the money.

  • Useful Mushroom Guide

Helpful guide to mushrooms. Lots of full-color photographs. One feature I don't like is that the photographs are in one section of the book and the written information is in another, so the reader has to flip back and forth between the two sections. I suppose this is helpful in the logistics of printing the book, but it takes some getting used to for the reader. Otherwise, the books seems good. But I'm no mushroom expert. Readers with aging eyes should be aware that the type size runs on the small side. The copy I bought was used and in very good condition. And it came quickly--kudos to the seller.

  • Handy North American Mushroom info & ID

I live surrounded by woodlands within New Jersey’s Wawayanda State Park. I relish photographs of its abundant flora and fauna. This field guide enabled me to quickly identify and grasp basic understanding of the great variety of mushrooms that grow in my environment.
