Practicing artists and makers will surely welcome The Journal of Modern Craft as a forum for the advancement of the philosophy, art and science in their work., "New technologies, concerns for sustainability, globalization and shifting manufacturing centers are all changing the world, yet craft values remain central to what many of us care about. The Journal of Modern Craft offers a welcome forum to discuss these many facets of working in the crafts across art, design and society." --Grace Cochrane, Former senior curator, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney "Practicing artists and makers will surely welcome The Journal of Modern Craft as a forum for the advancement of the philosophy, art and science in their work." --John Makepeace, OBE, Furniture Maker and Designer "This journal is much needed and looks set to become one of the best journals in the wider field of crafts. It has a strong editorial team and the first few issues offer what promises to be exciting and stimulating reading." --Pat Kirkham, Professor of Design History at the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design, and Culture, New York, Craft is a large subject, but The Journal of Modern Craft makes brave claims to be its journal record., "New technologies, concerns for sustainability, globalization and shifting manufacturing centers are all changing the world, yet craft values remain central to what many of us care about. Synopsis
The Journal of Modern Craft is the first peer-reviewed academic journal to provide an interdisciplinary and international forum in its subject area. It addresses all forms of making that self-consciously set themselves apart from mass production--whether in the making of designed objects, artworks, buildings, or other artefacts. The journal covers craft in all its historical and contemporary manifestations, from the mid-nineteenth-century, when handwork was first consciously framed in opposition to industrialization, through to the present day, when ideas once confined to the "applied arts" have come to seem vital across a huge range of cultural activities. Special emphasis is placed on studio practice, and on the transformations of indigenous forms of craft activity throughout the world. The journal also reviews and analyses the relevance of craft within new media, folk art, architecture, design, contemporary art, and other fields., "The Journal of Modern Craft" is the first peer-reviewed academic journal to provide an interdisciplinary and international forum in its subject area. Carefully packaged book- arrived wrapped in plastic bag and shipped in cardboard box. As a frequent book buyer I appreciate this as so many books are just crammed into a plastic shopping bag and sent on their way- sometimes always hanging out of the bag. I know that Midtown Book Seller books will arrive as described. Shipped promptly. I’d highly recommend them as a seller.

Excellent experience with this eBay used book seller! The books arrived in perfect condition, as described, and their pristine condition exceeded my expectations. What impressed me most was the speed of shipping: the book arrived much earlier than expected. Furthermore, the packaging was careful and professional, ensuring the book arrived undamaged. Thanks a lot! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Book was in very good condition as described in the listing. It looked almost new, in fact, but the pages did have some yellowing around the edges, a sign of its age. The seller did an excellent job of wrapping and packing the book for shipment, which I greatly appreciate! He has earned his 100% feedback rating, I'd say. I'm extremely pleased with the seller and this transaction. Thank you!
