Synopsis
In August 1944, Warsaw presented the last major obstacle to the Red Army’s triumphant march from Moscow to Berlin. When the Wehrmacht was pushed back to the Vistula River, the Polish Resistance poured forty thousand fighters into the streets to drive out the hated Germans. But Stalin halted the Russian offensive, allowing the Wehrmacht to regroup and destroy the city. For sixty-three days Soviet troops and other Allied forces watched from the sidelines as tens of thousands of Poles were slaughtered and Warsaw was reduced to rubble.Like Antony Beevor’s bestselling The Fall of Berlin, Rising ’44is a brilliant narrative of one of the most dramatic episodes in twentieth-century history.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you!

Great seller! Item is what I ordered; good communication; shipped promptly; good value. NOTE TO SELLER: packaging was NOT appropriate for item; it was a flimsy, plastic envelope, with no stiff material to prevent creases. The book came with two deep creases that involved the *entire* item: one is a 1" triangle lower left side (bound edge); the other is a 7" triangle on upper right side (open edge).

Absolutely BRILLIANT. The true title should be, " Poland and the three moles, Britain, U.S. and U.S.S.R" A archival and detailed multi-primary sourced research body of works, without personal colouring and prejudices dictating the historical facts. The author shows how all 3 moles(nations) hid behind a cheap democracy and a cheap "truth" to preserve a decaying self-interest. The pinnacle of this self-disillusional 3 "Grand Alliance" is a culmination of, "Go George Bush, Go Toni Blair, Go Butcher Putin" because a truthful Poland can not be supressed. A truly insightful document that should forever put the death by SOE of General Sikorski completely to rest? I recommend all western historians to review Norman Davies technique of multi-directional viewing of the same histoical fact ...

The subject is one that I can relate too and this book provides data and information that appeals to me. Reading this book is a good use of time and hopefully will remind leaders the value of live killed during a war.
