    A page turner

A very good book in narrative, characterisation and language. It kept my interest all the way through. I loved the observation and the way events were seen through a child's eyes and how all things including the motivations of the adults were not black and white. It was our book club's choice and those i've spoken to loved it too. An excellent and surprising first novel.

  • Most critical review

Absolute rubbish and a boring book.

Thought being set in the 70s it would be really good but it was a rubbish story anyone could have written. I wish I hadn’t bought it as it soon went to the charity shop.
