Synopsis
He's shy, a wallflower. He's the man at the side of the room listening to a duet for cello and viola. Even now you wouldn't notice him. But our shy fellow suddenly has an urge to swallow a cello, which is precisely what he does. And he doesn't stop there. He follows it with a harp, a sax, and a fiddle. On and on he goes, trying to satisfy his voracious appetite for musical instruments. A strange diet, you say? It's the perfect diet for a strange fellow, a strange, shy fellow., Perfect for any young reader interested in music, families who love music, and a must-have staple for music classrooms, this funny picture book is an amusing introduction to the instruments in an orchestra, featuring clever rhymes and whimsical illustrations. Meet a shy fellow! He's hard to notice, but he's right at the side of the room listening to a duet for cello and viola. But look again -- our shy fellow suddenly has an urge to swallow a HUGE cello, which is precisely what he does. And he doesn't stop there! He also swallows a harp, a saxophone, and a fiddle while trying to satisfy his voracious appetite for musical instruments. But when he swallows a teensy, tiny, little bitty bell, you won't believe what happens! In this take-off on a classic children's song, kids will laugh out loud and learn all about musical instruments with this story that's a melodious mix of fun and frivolity.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you!

Great seller! Item is what I ordered; good communication; shipped promptly; good value. NOTE TO SELLER: packaging was NOT appropriate for item; it was a flimsy, plastic envelope, with no stiff material to prevent creases. The book came with two deep creases that involved the *entire* item: one is a 1" triangle lower left side (bound edge); the other is a 7" triangle on upper right side (open edge).

  • A great book for kids of music lovers!

This darling book is a take on "I Know and Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly". In it, the shy fellow swallows a series of instruments, and music comes bellowing out of him. After swalllowing some remarkably large instruments, he swallows the tiniest of bells and soon all the instruments come tumbling out. (Luckily, he doesn't die a gruesome death like the old lady in the previous version.) The book has some interesting artwork, and it is a funny take on the familiar song. It makes a great book for kids of musicians.

  • This book is adorable and the pictures are fantastic!

I teach cello, so it caught me from just the title. But I am now very glad I bought it. It is an adorable book that anyone would enjoy that loves the instuments.
