If you're a fan of Poke'mon and a fan of the movies, you will enjoy this installment in the franchise. We join the anime protagonists Ash Ketchum and his friends Dawn and Brock as they come to the town of Alamos, a town on a high plateau; home of the Space and Time Towers--a set of two towers that also serve as the world's biggest music box. Upon arriving, they meet Alice and the young scientist Tonio. Strange things have been happening recently in the town: happenings appearing to be warping time and space. These occurrences are believed to be caused by the resident Poke'mon Darkrai, a Poke'mon living in the town garden. Darkrai, a Poke'mon with the ability to cause nightmares, has been appearing more frequently which is fueling the townspeople's suspicions. But soon Ash, his friends and the town are drawn into a conflict much, much bigger. This movie is one of the most visually appealing in the entire franchise. The setting of the film is very beautiful, and the space and time towers are so gorgeous they make you wish you could actually visit them. There's quite a bit of CGI in this film, but it's not bad for what it's used for. The actual plot of the movie is a bit bare-bones. It makes more sense when you watch the films that take place after this, as the plot is intended to lead to them. Without giving much away, it's a pretty standard "battle" movie where the human heroes work to solve the greater conflict occurring between Poke'mon. Fans of Darkrai as well as fans of the Sinnoh Legendary dragons Dialga and Palkia will enjoy this film quite a lot. If you're a fan of the Poke'mon movie franchise, pick it up and give it a chance. If you're looking for a movie to distract the kids for about an hour, this movie will definitely qualify. However this is a movie I'd recommend watching with them. The characters of the movie are all likeable, the visuals are lovely, and the lessons involving the character of Darkrai are suitable for kids to take from the movie.Read full review
